Scripture: Daniel 6: 1-16
10 Now when
Daniel knew that the document was signed, he went into his house (now in his
roof chamber his windows were open toward Jerusalem); he continued to get down
on his knees three times a day, praying and giving thanks before his God, as he
had been doing previously….
16 Then the king gave a command, and
Daniel was brought and thrown into the den of lions. The king said to Daniel,
“May your God, whom you constantly serve, rescue you Himself!” 17 A stone was
brought and laid over the mouth of the den; and the king sealed it with his own
signet ring and with the signet rings of his nobles, so that nothing would be
changed concerning Daniel. 18 Then the king returned to his palace and spent
the night fasting; and no music or entertainment was brought before him, and he
remained unable to sleep.
This man Daniel was so committed to
God in a way that the Scripture tells us he prayed 3 times a day just like
David. It also notable that the king on verse 16 said ‘Your God whom you constantly serve’. Many of us do come to
church and pray but were are not constantly serving God, when you reach a
level where you constantly serve God, when you cry unto God He will hear your
cry, If it God you constantly serve, you committed to, you prioritise – God will
also prioritise you in times of trouble. God will hear our cry when were
committed to Him
Our commitment must be constant, we must not
try to show commitment when only were facing challenges or when challenges come
but God must always be our Priority, Daniel didn’t start to pray 3 times a day
when He was about to face challenges but it was his lifestyle as the bible says
‘HE CONTINUED… AS HE WAS DOING PREVIOUSLY’ to pray 3 times, prioritising God
must also be our lifestyle, not something we wait to do when were in trouble.
In verse 16-20 we can see how Daniel was
rescued by God, when we commit ourselves to God He will rescue us from all that
is trying to destroy us, He will also make whatever that has been set by the
enemy to eat us to lose appetite. God can do supernatural things, miracles by
us just being commited to Him. God can open a red sea – open a way where there
is no way.
Some situations they don’t require us to do
warfare and pray against them but commitment to God, if you have enemies just
commit yourself to God, and God will automatically fight in your behalf ,
Daniel didn’t even declare any words against his enemies but just commitment
alone was enough for God to rescue him.
Another man committed to God is Job, in the
Book of Job chapter 1 v8 The Lord said
to Satan, “Have you considered and reflected on My servant
Job? For there is none like him on the earth, a blameless and upright man, one
who fears God [with reverence] and abstains from and turns
away from evil [because he honors God]. The is a level of commitment
that God can brag about us in the face of the devil, that the level we need to
reach.
v9 Then
Satan answered the Lord, “Does Job fear God for nothing? 10 Have
you not put a hedge [of protection] around him and his house and all that he
has, on every side? You have blessed the work of his hands [and conferred
prosperity and happiness upon him], and his possessions have increased in the
land. All that Job did was to be committed to
God, when were are committed to God there are things that God will do for us
that we won’t see with our naked eyes. Job didn’t know there is a wall or hedge
of protection around him and his house, just like Daniel didn’t knew God has
supernatural caused his enemies the lions to lose appetite, all these men did
was being committed to God.
In our lives there are things God will do for us: protection, favor, blessings upon our lives by us just being committed, we might not
see these but the enemy always see and knows what God is going to do and what He has done
in our lives. Let our commitment be constant to God cause there are benefits in doing so.
